Grandaddy's Birthday and Books

Many of you had Virgil Lawyer as a teacher at Harding back in the day. He also was Dean of Students and had several other roles in the 60's. As you probably know, he is my father-in-law. Today is Grandaddy's birthday......he is 85 today. If you get a chance, send him a B-Day card to 35 Harding Drive, Searcy. 72143 I know he would appreciate it.

Ok......I do have one book to tell you about. Jerry Morgan turned me on to it. The title is "The Monkey and the Fish: Liguid Leadership for a Third-Culture Church" by Dave Gibbons. You can get it used off of Amazon. FANTASTIC book!! Pick it up and tell me what you think about it.

Kudos for Tom Watson, no matter how he ends up playing the next two days. To do what he is doing at his age is AMAZING!

Getting ready for football season!! Got me a flat screen and HD so that I can see my Tide even better this year!! I don't think we will run the table and win 12 in a row again, but I think we should hold our own. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!! :)

The 4th and Other Ramblings

Not posting myself much these days......but still reading other blogs that encourage me daily. Cope, Brenton, Mead, and Garner are everyday stops for me. I am addicted to those blogs. Don't always agree with every word, but I love those Godly men!

Headed out in the morning to the Great Southwest! Southeastern Colorado, New Mexico, hill country of Texas, and back home. Looking forward to being with some wonderful Harding folks, and seeing God's beautiful nature. And yes, my girlfriend/wife Jan will be along for the journey!

Karl Malden.......now THERE is a celebrity to acknowledge! He was married in 1938 to Mona, and they were in the 71st year of marriage when he passed this week. When is the last time you heard of something like that coming out of Hollywood? He will be missed.

Got lots of books to tell you about, but I will wait till next time. Check back around Thanksgiving! :) God bless!
