What If?
What if you found an educated person who had never heard of the Bible or any spiritual concepts, and you gave them the New Testament to read on their own with the understanding that when they completed reading it, they would come back to you to visit? What truths or principles do you think they would say they found? What do you think would be some of their questions?

Would be an interesting post-read visit. I've been reading the Bible for 40 years and the word affects me differently each time I read even the same passages. It depends what the imaginary person was reading the book for. If he hadn't been groomed for his reading, like those of us raised in bible school, he might be reading it for entertainment like a good Grisham book. He might be fascinated with the miracles performed and touched by the compassion of a Man who washes the feet of his disciples. I think it would depend on he person's level of faith upon beginning the reading. I think the gospel written in the Bible was designed to be "taught" to each other instead of absorbed from the written transcript. The Etheopian was reading the word but didn't understand it until Phillip explained it to him at which point the urgency of becoming a believer was revealed. Your supposition points out the importance of our responsibility as christians to "share" and "study" with one another. II Timothy 3:16..scripture is for..correction..instruction in rightousness. There are cases where someone gets a Bible for the first time, reads it through, and becomes obedient to the gospel. The gospel is simple truth, but some will be on milk longer as others graduate to a helping of meat as the story unfolds. The growth of the individual reader would depend, in my opinion, on his degree of faith. Good Blog. We got lots to be thankful for. Enjoy time with your family tomorrow.
